Leadership and Management

Effective, principled, and innovative management and leadership are essential to shaping an equitable OST system that responds to the realities and well-being of young people, families, and staff in our OST community. As the OST community moves into a post-pandemic new world, preparing managers and leaders at all levels to re-imagine and then create the OST future we want for our Cambridge youth and families has never been more important.

Introductory Level Coming in the Future

Intermediate Level Training!

Cambridge Changemakers: Youth Advocacy Leadership Series Check back for next offering!
“From the beginning, Melinda and Minh made everyone feel welcome, excited, challenged, and safe and those are all the things we want our youth to feel... Since the program ended, we have taken steps to make sure that we are centering youth voice and youth advocacy wherever we can.”-Jordan, Tutoring Plus, Inaugural Cohort Participant

In this live frontline leadership development program, we are inviting teams of youth workers across Cambridge to build and co-create with a cohort of like-minded, passionate, and caring youth workers to encourage and prepare youth to skillfully and positively impact their communities and take charge of their own destinies.

Participants will have an opportunity to develop their personal Youth Worker identities, and clarify their own youth development practices and philosophies towards youth advocacy. Participants will understand oppressive factors, systems and structures that limit and challenge youth leadership and learn how to effectively address them. Participants will in turn develop the skills and acquire the tools to support youth attending OST programs

Advanced Level Training!

The Liberation of Leadership Series
Check back for next offering!
We are excited to announce that eighteen members of our OST Community have completed the Liberation of Leadership, Cohort 2  training series facilitated by Daniel Michaud-Weinstock and Sharon Bueno-Washington.

This live training series engages a cohort of Cambridge OST leaders in a liberatory approach to leadership development. The Program responds to the need communicated to AFCOST by program and executive leadership in the Cambridge OST coalition that effective leadership is essential to shaping an equitable OST system that responds to the realities of young people, families, and staff in our OST community. In addition, as our OST community moves into a post-pandemic new world, preparing leadership at all levels to re-imagine and then create the OST future we want for our Cambridge youth and families has never been more important.
