Current Focus Areas and Projects Supported through OST-School Partnership
Awareness of OST Opportunities Across Systems and Communities
The Agenda for Children works with CPS and the OST system of providers to compile and disseminate reliable information that informs families, students and in-school faculty about the range of available experiences and how to access them.
CPS Student Access and Engagement in OST
To ensure optimal access to quality OST opportunities for all CPS students, with a particular focus on the middle grades, the Agenda for Children coordinates the Middle School Network. Supports for students in grades K-5 are also in place, with special attention to critical transitions including entering Kindergarten and preparing for the transition to Upper School.
Partnership Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
Working with CPS central administration to design a common MOA process to assist with the development and maintenance of effective school-OST provider partnerships. A MOA template and process is currently under development and will be piloted in 2015.
OST Student Enrollment and Participation Data System
Currently being built, with support from CPS, for OST providers and CPS-run OST clubs/programs/teams to document, track and submit to the Agenda for Children upper school students’ participation in OST experiences. This enhances our efforts to target services, and improve access across programs, schools and neighborhoods.
Strategic Collaborations
The Agenda for Children and CPS are committed to strategic, data-driven efforts to enhance students’ access to quality OST experiences. The Putnam Avenue Upper School/East End House OST Program, a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant-funded program targeting 6th-8th graders is an example of a supported strategic collaboration. The Agenda for Children provides quality coaching, data reporting and impact assessment of the program on student outcomes.
OST Learning Passport System
An innovative initiative being supported by CPS to build out an interactive approach, potentially developed with BadgeOS, to document, acknowledge, celebrate and motivate CPS Upper School students’ participation in OST opportunities.
